The ECS Drama Department put on its annual play Friday evening, with a lively and entertaing musical comedy entitled, "Toy Camp."
Directed by Mrs. Sheri Rogers, the play, by Paul Collette and Gary Fritzen, depicts the intensive training toys must go through in order to earn their price tags, so that they can go to stores and be bought. In the case of this group of toys, each must learn to overcome his or her fear of "Mrs. Grouchstick" the teacher.
The cast of characters are as follows: Rover: Jacob Wynn; Cool Cat: Casey Miller; Prima Donna: Lauren Miller; Princess Ann: Jewell King; Glow Toy: Brittany Jacobs; Ted. E. Bear: Mallory James; Jig: Meredith Griffin; Saw: Michael Matthews; Toy Soldier: Jonathan Byars; Cat in the Hat: Chris Bell; Army Soldier: Tommy King; Jack: Sarah Eayers; Puzzle Glue: Alexus Johnson; Mrs. Grouchstick: Teresa Fisher.
After a recent practice Mrs. Rogers said, "I am working with a very interesting and talented group of actors. It has been an adventure getting through each rehearsal with a straight face!"
The play attracted a larger than usual crowd this year, and no one went away disappointed. The lighting and sound were on target, and the cast did not disappoint anyone. The mix of comedy, drama, and lively songs had everyone tapping their toes. Many in the crowd commented on the professionalism of the actors. The variety of music and choreography had a little something for everyone.
