THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS at ECS
Classes will be filled in the order the applications are received. Once a class has filled, further applications will be placed on a waiting list. We do our best to permit every child who applies and who is academically and emotionally ready to come to ECS, but on those occasions when a class fills and the student is placed on a waiting list, we will inform you as soon as a spot or a new class opens. With families moving and transferring to other locales, we have a small number of applicants who give up their spots throughout the summer months.
We would love to have the opportunity to meet you and your potential student at Emmanuel Christian. If you are interested in applying to ECS, here's what to do:
Once the school receives your application, information, and recommendations (if necessary), you will be called to set up an appointment for your interview. The interview will involve at least one parent (preferably two), the student applicant(s), the administrator, and possibly one or two admissions committee members. The interview will take about 30 to 45 minutes. It is a very relaxed interview. A determination regarding any needed academic testing will be made and/or scheduled at the interview.
After the interview, the parents will be notified of the Admissions Committee’s decision, generally within one week.
Upon acceptance, your application fee will confirm your position at the school. If the school does not receive your application fee at the time of application or within two weeks of the receipt of your acceptance, your position may be given to another applying student. You will need to fill out a financial commitment form in which you select your payment plan for the school year. If your child is not accepted, your application fee will be returned to you.
Once the school receives the financial information and the application fee, you will begin receiving information which contains the calendar of events, a supply list, class registration materials, book lists, and other information which will help you prepare for the upcoming year.
If you have any further questions, please contact or call the school office at (843) 332-0164.
ADMISSIONS POLICY
Emmanuel Christian School is interested in attracting students who are motivated to learn, strong in character, and who are committed to quality Christian instruction. Parental support of the school's Statements of Faith and Purpose and a child's desire to attend are equally important, as the process of effective Christian education is a cooperative effort between the home, church, and school.
Our programs are designed to meet the needs of students who are average or above average in ability and achievement. Although we are able to help some students who have been identified as moderately learning disabled, at present we are not able to provide programs which can meet the needs of students who may require unique or specialized learning programs.
Emmanuel Christian School admits students of any ethnic origin or natural gender. All students must meet minimum qualifications for admission to the school.
These standards are designed to identify students who:
- Demonstrate average or above average scholastic ability and/or achievement
- Are socially and emotionally well adjusted
- Are amenable to correction and instruction
- Desire to attend Emmanuel Christian School
- Are motivated to learn
- Are receptive to the Christian emphasis in education
- Have parents who are supportive of the school’s beliefs, policies and procedures
- Have parents who realize the process of Christian education involves the cooperative effort of the home, church, and school. Each must support the other for the training to become effective.
